Adobe HAS to Add This Feature

Author: Chris Morris  //  Category: Asking the Public, Cool Finds

Seriously, watch this video and you’ll know what I mean, this HAS to be included in CS5, everybody get on the email and send adobe a message asking to include this software, this is pretty darn nice!

I can seriously see myself using this a lot.

You can grab objects and move them around in the video and easily motion track objects, MUCH more powerful than what you can do in Adobe After Effects CS4. Plus, check out the rendering time, hardly takes a second!

This is just the thing I’d love, if anybody has a minute, PLEASE contact adobe and tell them how much you love them :P

This is a light wait application that I hope can be integrated into Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro but the easiest way to see what it is, is.. well, to watch the video below. Feel free to leave a comment about this or any other great ideas you have (probably should tell adobe about those ideas)

The only feature I wish it had was the ability to actually move the objects around in the video, not just move the timeline on those objects… Then again, that would require a crap load of calculations, but then again, I’m just a person who always wants the best, enjoy the video!

CS4 - How to Get RID OF THAT LAG!

Author: Chris Morris  //  Category: How to, hdx

Okay, as you probably read in my post earlier, I am getting MAJOR lag with CS4 on my system.
Oh, and to give you an idea, here are my specs
-Intel Core 2 Duo Extreme 2.8Ghz each core.
-4gb ram
-8800M GTS with 512mb

Well, turns out the problem is bridge & other start up applications, boy oh boy does adobe have a lot of start up apps, I’ve disabled a lot and it runs MUCH MUCH nicer, its still slower than before, but its worth while.

Just a quick update, but yep!

No More CS4 No More! If That Makes Sense?

Alrighty, so I called up adobe, and recorded the call (just in case I need it for future reference) and asked them, if the education version will allow me to publish my work. The lady on the phone said yes, the education edition does allow you to use your work commercially. I double checked, as in, repeated the question 3 times and she said yes yes yes.

So, it’s official, I can use the education edition for my websites. It also said an acadaemic ID is required, on the front of the box. I assume this is like a student ID that you get in TAFE or Uni etc - which I get one next year anyway. It never asked me for an ID, so not really sure what’s going on there, all I know is I have it installed, registered and running.

The installation process was VERY lengthy, I had to run down and put my laptop back on charge, so in other words, it took about 2 hours, then another hour on charge to install. 3 hours to install it all! BUT, it is WELL worth the wait, the installer was simple to use and only required 4 DVD’s for all the apps.

One downside though is I was an idiot and forgot to uninstall Fireworks CS4 Beta (which was a free trial, pre-release of the software from earlier in the year). So I uninstalled fireworks, and now I gotta try and figure out how to install it back without installing the whole suite again.

Another downside is that I was mislead into beleiving the whole suite was 64 bit, and sadly it’s only Photoshop & Acrobat Pro that is 64 bit. I am also going to be showing you the start up time for the applications. I was disapointed at this too, they said cs4 has many time savers, well, um, not as fast as CS3 for opening things. VERY slow.

ANOTHER downside is that my computer now takes FIVE minutes (up from 50 seconds) to boot Vista, it then freezes and I have to end explorer.exe and restart explorer, then it takes another couple of minutes before the damn thing works. VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY BAD FOR SOMETHING THAT COSTS OVER A FREAKING GRAND. VERY pissed off at this one.

In any case though, I’m happy that I have the newer features but feel really ripped off by adobe, to tell you the honest truth. Even the packaging was cheap… Anyway..

CS4 No More

Author: Chris Morris  //  Category: Uncategorized

I feel quite let down to be honest (READ THE UPDATED POST CLICK HERE!!!!). Not anywhere on the site nor email confirmation did it say that the CS4 I ordered was an education edition. So when I got it, I gave it straight back :(

Why can’t I use the education edition?

Well, first, I can NOT publish my work.
Second, I can’t do tutorials on the software.
Third, I need to be in TAFE or University to actually activate them.

For me to get the full version I’m going to need another $1600 - $2000.

I’ve lost a lot of motivation now, I was expecting to receive exactly what I ordered, and I didn’t…

VERY Exciting News!

Okay, this is REALLY awesome,

I bought not Production Premium.. but this time, the FULL ADOBE MASTER COLLECTION CS4!!!

Now, why is this amazing, well, let me tell you why it’s amazing… - wow that was a wasted sentence..

Anyway, here is the normal price for MC (Master Collection CS4) $4104 AUD + postage.
F**king expensive, ay? Well, I got it for not $4100, not $3500, not even $1500… I got it for $1390!

It’s BRAND NEW, LEGITIMATE and I got the last one left!! Although I am not 100% sure if the website is going to be adding more for the same price, I know that they have another option with the exact same title for $3700, which sounds more realistic, but we confirmed everything and it is a legitimate, full copy (not upgrade) and yeah, it’s pretty bloody awesome.

Now, because of a few things that happened, it will be upto another 6-7 days before I actually receive the box.

Anyway, They also had a mac version for almost exactly the same price, so if they had run out of the windows versions (which I was lucky enough and they didn’t) then I could have gotten a mac version and then bought an iMac 20″ which would still work out cheaper than buying the $3700 windows version..

In other words..

Windows MC CS4 - $1393 (1 qty)
Mac MC CS4 - $1395 (12 qty)

AFTER that last 1 of the Windows MC CS4 had been taken the prices would have looked like this…

Windows MC CS4 - $3700 (8 qty)
Mac MC CS4 - $1395 (12 qty)

Soooo…. if I were to buy the full on version for windows, $3700, I would be WASTING MONEY as I could get the mac version for $1395 + an iMac $1599 = around abouts $3100 or something.

Although I am tempted to get a mac, I need to get a job first, which I am doing next year, I also have something very big around the corner, can you Crack the Code?

BAHHH!! I CAN’T WAIT TO GET IT!!! I’ll do an unboxing video etc as well (reminds me, gotta upload the HDX unboxing)
Master Collection CS4 Will include the following programs: (think about it, under $100 an app - not bad considering a stand-alone version of Photoshop Extended is $1500)

NOTE: the following are in USD, I bought all these for $1400 AUD - roughly $1000 USD, it’s a freaking bargin! To get the AUD prices below, estimates at least, add 40%

InDesign ($699)
PhotoShop EXTENDED ($999)
Illustrator ($599)
Acrobat 9 Pro ($499)
Flash Pro ($699)
Dreamweaver ($399)
Fireworks ($299)
Contribute ($199)
After Effects [my favourite] ($999)
Premiere Pro ($799)
Soundbooth ($199)
OnLocation & Encore (included only in the CS’s, ie not stand-alone, Adobe doesn’t mention a price)
–EXTRA APPS include Bridge, Device Central, Dynamic Link and Version Cue - Bridge is going to be f**king sweet, sorry for swaring but I love that app, it organises all your stuff and allows you to work between programs etc, I love it.

Now, some of you might say, yeah.. and you are going to use all of these programs? Well, the answer is.. No, I am not going to use the programs, in fact, I just spent all that money just or the heck of it /end sarcasam. Lol, okay, let me tell you a bit about what I am going to be using and how often.

InDesign - I haven’t really used it before, but I would like to check it out, I probably won’t use this app as I am already used to the apps I currently use.. This is just a bonus to me.
Photoshop Extended - I’ll be using this app probably every day, I will be using it for web design, video production (ie, things I can’t do in After Effects), logos and also occasionally for photographs and what not.
Illustrator - Okay, gotta tell you the truth, I prefer the control I have over a bitmap, but I need the quality of vector-based images, although the final product will be a bitmap vector can be resized to ANY size without ANY loss of quality because it’s all based on mathematics. I haven’t used Illustrator much before but I HAVE used flash a lot and I probably will end up teaching myself some Illustrator.
Acrobat 9 - Now, to many peoples surprise, I will be using this occasionally, not sure on how often yet.
Flash Pro - I used to want to be an animator, but I still use flash for interactive presentations and also to make video players and animated logos etc, this will be used occasionally but more often the Acrobat, maybe a couple of times a month.
Dreamweaver - I use dreamweaver almost always looking at the code/design view and for it’s FTP functionality, I want to expand my knowledge of DreamWeaver, but I reckon that I’ll stick to code for the moment, it does have a few nice features in there that I will be using though and I like the </ auto end tagging feature.
Fireworks - I will be using next year when I get back into developing websites for other people.
Contribute - I can’t even remember what this program does, so this is just a bonus.
After Effects - I will be using this a heck of a lot for my youtube videos, yeah yeah, they are only youtube videos right? Well, I have some other stuff around the corner too, this is a MUST HAVE.
Premiere Pro - Another must have for my video development, I will also be using this to edit family videos, such as holiday footage and what not.
Soundbooth - Okay, to be honest with you, I have only just realised how much I am going to use this program, I used a trial of Sony Acid, but this should be more than sufficiant for me making theme music for videos and things like that, I am NOT ALLOWED to upload ohter copyrighted music to youtube, I would like to join their partnership program too and I must not break any rules if I want to get in, this is a big-releif-kinda-must-have-but-will-be-used-quite-a-bit-too?? meh.. all I know is I’ve been needing something like this without realising it.
OnLocation - I really haven’t used it before, but I may use it for YouTube videos, not really sure how it works, but if it works in the way I THINK it works, I may use it on live streams too.
Encore - This will be used to create DVD’s, maybe I can get an external blu-ray when the time comes that I need one, but for the moment, this will be used maybe every couple of months.

So, that’s the basic gist of things, you can clearly see that I have spent about the same money on Photoshop… EXTENDED and gotten around 13 apps along with it, which many of them were also $1000 - $1500 too. Total savings: a shit load.

Annnyyywaaayy…
That’s it for now, sorry if this post was a little unorganised, rushing because I’m excited xD.

Adobe Creative Suite 4

Author: Chris Morris  //  Category: Uncategorized

It’s that time again where Adobe is releasing all revamped products of their CS (creative suite.)

On the 24th of September, CS4 will be announced/released(?) and I can tell you that most of the difference in CS4 is going to be the GUI, there should also be some preset workspaces for dual monitors (horray.)

This is particulary good for me, because I am 99% sure that if I get into PreCAL next year, I can get about 80% off the normal price! Though, these will be academic versions, they do pretty much the same things.

Anyway, anybody who is interested in CS4 should head on over to this link and watch the live webcast on the 23rd/24th.

CS4 is going to be very nice, I downloaded a beta version of fireworks and the GUI was pretty pasic, as in, like windows 2000 looking where you have blocks for buttons, instead of cool gradient looking buttons in windows vista for example. I think that they removed the cool looking buttons in the beta release.

What I expect is this, have any of you seen MS word 2007? If so, on the top left cornor, you see a logo which basically works as a file button, I think they’ll be doing the same thing in CS4.

Anyway, just a quick post about CS4, I’ll be watching the live stream on the 24th (for me.)
